Custom coloring books are a great way for realtors to express their authority in a specific market. Real estate can be a very crowded space, and after talking with my client Barbara, it’s clear that using a coloring book can be a great way to stand out and set yourself apart.
My client, Barbara Ann Rogers, is a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker associated with Compass.
Compass’s mission “is to help everyone find their place in the world,” and Barbara said that pretty much sums up hers as well, with a focus on buyers and sellers in Brooklyn, where she has lived for over 35 years.
Barbara got into real estate in 2004 after 25 years in commercial, investment, and international banking, the last eight spent living in Paris, where she worked for a French bank. On her return to NYC she was spending time renovating an apartment she’d taken and thinking about my next steps, when a friend said to her, “you should just go into real estate, because it’s all you ever talk about anyway.” She did, and she’s never looked back.
She’s now worked in real estate since 2004 and decided to create a custom coloring book because it seemed like a great way to introduce people (both buyers and sellers) to the diverse and vibrant neighborhood in which she’s lived and worked for 14 years now, Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
Barbara wanted to use her book to showcase some of her favorite local merchants and also the fantastic resource that is Prospect Park. To capture the photos that are illustrated in her book she walked around the neighborhood taking photos of her friends and the park.
When asked how the books have been received, Barbara said, “Extremely favorably! Several merchants have purchased PDFs of their page and use the images on placemats for when kids come to their shops/restaurants. I gave one coloring book to a small neighbor, who took it to school, where her teacher loved it and requested copies for every kid in the class, to use as an example of their lesson on community. I was happy to donate a coloring book and a set of colored pencils for every child in the class.”
